Happy Halloween to all you scary little creatures

This year I did a super easy Vampire theme.  Still trying to get to know my new house.  It takes a little time to get the feel of it and such.  Do you know what I mean or is it just me?  So, I made this vampire killing station, if you will.  The drawers I bought at our local thrift store to the utter disgust of my family.  Wonderful!! I knew I had bought the right piece for my set up and it only cost me $8.  I also got a whole lot of little items needed, like bottles, bowls, wood chest and rocking chair. And how cool is that picture of the sister vampires that I got at Michaels?  It's what pulls it all together.  And then of course, the cool green tool box.  I have been looking for one like that for a while and couldn't believe I found one at the thrift store.  I can't wait to use it on future projects. The fence backdrop I got at Tai Pan Trading. It will be so fun to see all the cute and scary little creatures that come knocking on my door tonight.  Hope you have a good night ... and remember - Never invite a vampire into your home.

HUNGER GAMES

This is a real party hit for a group of 13 year old girls.  That is for sure.  Tried and tested.
To get the real feel >
Make sure to empty the party room of any paintings, nicknacks and otherwise unnecessary objects before decorating.
Place empty cans randomly (wrappers removed) and candles around the house.
Hang parachutes made out of hangers, cans and white cloth from the ceiling.
Go with the color theme of black, red and gold.
Place pictures of Hunger Game logo, targets and quotes from movie on walls.
To feed the crowd >
This book series has plenty of food ideas.  Lots and lots actually.
You can easily go with a feast theme from District 1.  Use bold colors, lots of fancy china and silverware.  Hang brightly colored light over table.  The key here is to go overboard.  Lots of food on as many different serving plates and platters.
For this themed birthday party, we went with what we figured would be some of Katniss's favorite food.
Melark bakery bread was a must for these girls, served with cheese from the Hub.  We also served game from Gale's last hunting trip (could be any type of meat) and Caesar Flickerman salad.  And make sure you have lots of red, gold and black candy (red and black licorice, butterscotch hard candy, red hots etc.) and lots of Tracker Jacker wings (chips) on hand for munchy teenage girls

Wire trees from the Dollar store with red and gold ties.
(Hold on too stuff like that, easy to add anything to the tree for a different theme)
And always have a canvas on hand for easy decorating
Cans and candles everywhere
Katniss's backpack, water bottle, bow and rope
Books and a white rose from Pres. Snow
Party favors - Nightlock Berry Gummies
Buffett style table
Haymitch's favorite (applecider)
Mellark Bakery Bread, Hob Cheese, Ceasar Salad, Gale's Game and Tracker Jacker wings

And for the birthday girl ... the cake that was a fire
